Pleasant Word Games: Earth Day Year Round? Jun 27, 2008
I have become a huge fan of Magnetic Poetry this year, so I am always looking out for those new and curious word kits to add to my collection. "The Gardener" version really pleases me with its natural focus and potential humor!
Writing haiku is a personal meditation for me; it truly helps me to relax and unwind after a stressful day. Regarding this Magnetic Poetry kit--this "garden" fresh product charges my brainstorming and my observations by challenging me to create with the word selections in this particular word box OR by allowing me to work with other word kits for more variety. Magnetic Poetry does tend to get a bit addictive when you try to outdo each expression you make! LOL :) More fun can be had when other people join you and / or you add on words from other, "unrelated" word packs--such as putting this kit with the Shakespeare one or the Romance one! [From the very tame to the very, very wild, there are a variety of word kits to purchase, truly something for everyone! To see more products, just do an Amazon search for Magnetic Poetry. How magnetic poetry might help young readers and students is in illustrating the impact of the right word choice and the wrong word choice in a phrase or sentence. A great writer--I think it was Mark Twain--once said, "The difference between the right word and the wrong word is like the difference between lighting and a lighting bug." The word tiles of Magnetic Poetry kits can be used to teach basic parts of speech and / or sentence patterns.
