 Extremely poor quality Sep 28, 2010

I am more than a little angry with this purchase. These are NOT wooden toys, they are pressed paper, flimsy and smell horrible, the paint starts chipping off immediately. TWO of the instruments broke the very first day, just from being shaken as they're intended to be! The teeth popped off the shaker toy and the tambourine "eyes" came off and those are both toys that were meant to be shaken and fell apart when they were. The cymbals were rusty around the screws when they were received and had horrible scratches in their finish. I'm just really, really mad at Alex Toys. Really. They provided toys that are cheaply, poorly, carelessly made under the guise of quality wooden toys. Do NOT buy this set, the cute faces do not make up for the utter lack of workmanship. We owned the Melissa&Doug wooden (REAL WOOD!) band for 3 years before losing them during a move and I thought this would be a good replacement - I was very wrong. Alex toys is now completely off my list as this is the second product I've tried and the second time I've been shocked by how bad the quality is.

This set of musical instruments is a lot of fun! It's colorful, sturdy and easy to use - perfect for when my 18-month old and 5-year old want to play "parade!" Highly recommended.
