ZOOB is cool...ZOOBDude Ranger not so much Nov 10, 2007 This is the first ZOOB purchase I've made. Overall the ZOOBDude is fun to play with (kept me going for a 1/2 hr just trying different things), but I'd stick with more basic ZOOB pieces.
---Problem w/ the ZOOBDude Ranger in particular: the Parachute.
The parachute just gets in the way. The ZOOBDude is too heavy. Even just the parachute pack piece is too heavy, although it might actually 'work' if dropped from the 2nd floor, which I didn't try. (standing on the sofa wasn't high enough & the parachute didn't open well)
The parachute & parachute pack (which doesn't actually hold the parachute) doesn't detach from the connecting piece, so I ended up just cutting it off. Another option is to remove the parachute piece altogether and shorten ZoobDude's body, which also makes it easier for him to stand.
Another problem I had: my set missed a notched piece & I had to use one of his arms for his back to make the demo config. ZOOBDude arrived in a different configuration than pictured.
Otherwise ZOOB is pretty cool. The pieces are pretty lightweight and versatile. Maybe too lightweight as they may not hold together consistently, but the pieces appear to be strong.
I'd like to buy another set with more generic pieces, probably when my son gets older, or would consider buying it as a gift. Just not at full price.
